What is iFLY Loudoun?
iFLY Loudoun is an indoor skydiving facility in Ashburn that opened its doors to the public in March 2016. At its core, iFLY Loudoun is a vertical wind tunnel that allows you to experience the thrill of skydiving without having to actually jump out of an airplane. Instead, iFLY uses a closed recirculating tunnel system to create a controlled environment that simulates the feeling of freefall.
The tunnel at iFLY Loudoun features a massive 14-foot (4.3 m) wide and 48-foot (14.6 m) tall flight chamber, allowing you to fly through the air as if you were falling through the sky. This 6th Generation tunnel model from iFLY Tunnel Systems (formerly, Skyventure) uses an array of fans at the top of the wind tunnel that pulls air through the flight chamber at air speeds of up to 171 mph (275 kph).
It's a unique, safe way to experience the rush of skydiving.
What to Expect at iFLY Loudoun
So, you've decided to take the plunge and try indoor skydiving? Here's what to expect during your visit to iFLY Loudoun. First, check-in at the front desk, fill out liability waivers, and watch a short safety video. Next, you'll be taken to the training area where you'll learn the proper body position for flying and how to communicate with your instructor while in the wind tunnel. Once you're suited up, you'll enter the tunnel and experience the rush of freefalling! During the flight, your instructor will guide you and even teach you some basic tricks to try while in the air.
Who Can iFLY?
We believe everyone should be able to fly! That's why we welcome anyone, regardless of age, gender, fitness level, and ability. However, there are some restrictions to ensure everyone's safety. Flyers must weigh less than 300 pounds and be at least 3 years old. Pregnant women and people with certain medical conditions are not allowed to fly. If you have any questions or concerns, talk to our friendly staff beforehand.

If you're visiting from out of town, there are plenty of nearby hotels and attractions to make your trip even more enjoyable. The iFLY staff can also help recommend places to stay and visit.
Along with iFLY Montgomery (which is across the border in Maryland) iFLY Loudoun is the closest wind tunnel to the U.S. Capitol (approximately one hour away) and as such, is the only place to go indoor skydiving near Washington D.C. This location is the second wind tunnel in Virginia, after iFLY Virginia Beach, a beachfront tunnel that opened in 2015 and is owned and operated by U.S. Navy veteran and avid skydiver Robert Pizzini.
