iFLY Whitby is an indoor skydiving facility located on Consumers Drive in Whitby, Ontario, and forms part of the Whitby Entertainment Centrum. Established by iFLY Canada ULC in 2018, the facility became the second FLY location in Toronto, after iFLY Oakville (formerly, iFLY Toronto). Situated along the lake just northeast of downtown, the wind tunnel is a great destination for tourists.
This state-of-the-art facility boasts a massive 14-foot vertical wind tunnel with 4 fans above the flight chamber that pull air through the system at more than 150mph. When participants step into the tunnel, the airflow serves as an invisible cushion that simulates free fall skydiving.
Who Can Fly at iFLY Whitby?
One of the great things about indoor skydiving at iFLY Whitby is its accessibility. Anyone over 3 years old and under 300 lbs can fly. Additionally, the facility is wheelchair accessible with trained staff to assist those with disabilities. iFLY requires that you contact staff at the facility to discuss any physical requirements before making your reservation in order to guarantee a great experience.
There are a few important things to consider before making you reservation:
- Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must sign a waiver at check-in and also attend the safety briefing.
- If you have any prior heart conditions or have suffered from neck or back pain you should consult with a physician before making a reservation.
- iFLY does not recommend participating in indoor skydiving activities if you have previously experienced a shoulder dislocation.
- Indoor skydiving is not suitable for pregnant women.
Is Indoor Skydiving at iFLY Whitby Safe?
Safety is also a top priority at iFLY Whitby. The facility is staffed with highly trained, IBA-qualified instructors who are certified to the highest safety standards.
Before flying, all first-time flyers are required to attend a safety briefing where they will be shown how to control their bodies in a safe way inside the tunnel. When you step inside the tunnel you will be accompanied by an instructor at all times.

When you arrive at iFLY Whitby, you'll check in at reception before being given flight gear including a jumpsuit, goggles, helmet, and earplugs. You'll then receive a briefing from your qualified IBA instructor on safety basics as well as hand signals for communication during your flight. With everything ready to go it's time to step into the 14-foot wind tunnel! The sensation of freefall inside is unlike anything else – it's truly exhilarating!
Flying in a 14-foot vertical wind tunnel that simulates free fall skydiving is an experience like no other. Each flight lasts for about 60 seconds, during which time you'll experience the sensation of free fall while floating on a cushion of air. This may not seem like a long time, but rest assured, when you're in there it feels like a lot more! Just think about this... the freefall part of a normal skydive usually lasts around 45 seconds. That means that the cheapest 2-flight package at iFLY Whitby is more than double a normal skydive, and just a fraction of the cost!
