iFLY SF Bay | Union City Overview

The iFLY SF Bay wind tunnel (also known as iFLY Union City or iFLY San Fran) is a San Francisco-based indoor skydiving operation that’s been welcoming flyers since 2007. This Generation 3 SkyVenture tunnel was one of the earliest recirculating wind tunnel models, along with iFLY Denver, and remains the only place to indoor skydive in the Bay Area today. Flyers can visit iFLY SF Bay just west of the I-880 in Union City (north of Fremont).

The 12-foot (3.7 m) tunnel is the only Gen 3 SkyVenture (iFLY) tunnel still operating in California, and along with iFLY Hollywood (a 10-foot [3 m] Gen 5 tunnel that also opened in 2007), it is the oldest iFLY California tunnel in existence.

Today it has been joined by six other iFLY operations in the state, but along with iFLY Sacramento, iFLY SF Bay is still one of only two indoor locations in Northern California. The other indoor skydiving California wind tunnels are all in SoCal and include iFLY Hollywood, iFLY Ontario, iFLY San Diego, iFLY Oceanside, and a single independent tunnel, Perris Indoor Skydiving. The latter outfit has been running since 2003 and is the oldest tunnel in the state.

The Indoor Skydiving Experience

The entire first time flight experiences take roughly 1-2 hours. After arriving and checking in, you take part in a personalized training session before gearing up to fly. During your flights your instructor teaches you to fly your body. You take turns flying one at a time with other first time flyers.

Age Limit

Flyers must be at least 3 years old.

Weight Limit

Flyers must be less than 300 lbs.
Flyers over 260 lbs must contact the facility before flying.

You should not fly if you are pregnant or have previous shoulder dislocations.
